Have A Gay Day

A message to Have A Gay Day...
I know most of you don't know who I am.
I kinda like it that way because to me it's about you more than it's about me. Tonight I want to talk to you. I'm gonna chew on a tic-tac and kinda get in your face for a minute.
I know some of you out there have horrible days. I know that some of you cut, or think about suicide or things that would probably make me burst out in tears. I honestly have been where you are. I've had rough days too. It's happened to all of us. I wanna tell you that I hope not a single person from here ever leaves this page or this world because of suicide. I know that is a big request cause so many people think about it. You might know all the hotlines to call already if not they are like a minute away to search online.
Do you remember Jamey? Jamey Rodemeyer? Well this year his dad was asked what he wanted for Christmas and he said he wanted Jamey back. I know the family of Jamey. I went to see them in New York this year and we did a walk for the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention. You might not think you matter to someone but could I please claim you as a friend? Could I please tell you how much you matter to me. This kid that sits behind a computer and tells you it will be okay and tells you to remember to smile. I know this page might not have impacted your life but you have impacted mine. I hope that a few words from me, a stranger might let you know that you're not alone. I'm not here to argue that we don't have the perfect lives. I'm not here to tell you it's not hard cause we all know it is. I'm not even here to give you all the answers. I'm just here to tell you that you're not alone. If I could take all your pain I would cause I know it would make everyone so much better. I can only offer you some little virtual hug and tell you stop trying to escape. Stop telling me you have no one and understand you have some random kid on some random page out there that is telling you that you matter to him. I know, not much of a motivation speech. That's okay though it's not about what people think of me or think of you. What matters is that we can change this. We can change the world. I want you to be in this world to see the change. If nothing else this page has taught me anything is possible. You are possible. You are loved.
I know most people will never even make it this far cause this is so long but every day you are my happy thought that makes me fly second star to the right and straight with a little rainbow until morning. What kind of Gay Day will I have if you're not here to enjoy it. My happy is to see you smile. My hope is to remind you to smile. I may not change the world but will you take my virtual hand and keep on keepin on? With all my heart... -Michael

Have A Gay Day Questions and Answers

Question: How many admins are on Have A Gay Day?

As of January 1st 2013 there are 90 admins on the Have A Gay Day page.  Most admins answer questions and check for hate on the pages and interact with our followers.  There are only a few people that have the ability to post on the page. We come from all over the world with all different back grounds of life. We add admins as we grow and simply ask the page for volunteers when we feel they are needed.

Question: Do you do share for shares or would you share my page, business, or link.

We do not share pages businesses or links. We ask that you post them to our wall so our followers can see them.  If you have content that you want us to share post it there also.  We will link to you if it's your content and have created the photo.

We have reasons for this such as...
1.The amount of pages and people that ask to be shared.
2.The pages that ask to be shared not being active meaning they are not posting content and expect to have us grow them without being an active page.
3. A new page starting up and expecting us to grow them without seeing anything they are doing.  We like to judge a page by the content it shares with its audience.
4. If you run a page correctly you shouldn't need to be shared.  You should be able to grow by word of mouth and never have to pay to grow or be shared..  Spend the time with the people you do have vs. only being concerned with the number of "likes" on a page.

Question:  Why can't I post on the page?

There are a few reasons why you may not be able to post.
1. Facebook has a glitch and you might want to refresh the page.
2. You have been rude or disrespectful on the page and have been removed from the page from the ability to post.
3. You have spammed the page as a Facebook page or trolled the page with a message that was removed and won't be tolerated.

Rules of Have A Gay Day on Facebook

Language
The Have A Gay Day Facebook page does not allow slurring of any kind.  This includes hate speech or negativity towards another person of our community.  Not everyone believes like you do, looks like you do, or might have the same grammar you do.  Being a part of our page is voluntary but will be respectful for the full extent of your stay with us.  We have strong moderation filters that automatically hide slurs and certain wording.  If you are breaking the rules of the page by posting negative or offensive posts your comment may be deleted.  If you have been warned about your language or it's clear that you're only on our page to stir the pot you will be banned and your comments will automatically hide on all posts at the moment you have been banned.  You will not have the opportunity to comment again on our page.  If you feel you have been removed in error you may send the page a message and discuss your ban being lifted.

Spam
If you have a Facebook page, business, blog, video, link, photo, etc. that is LGBT related post it on our wall.  If you are commenting on our posts as a Facebook page with links to go and like your page or self promotion and spam such as if you don't share this with 10 people you will have bad luck your comment  will be removed from the page and or your membership may come to an end.  The only time this is not true is when Have A Gay Day specifically requests that the pages that follow it self promote under a status their page.  With having over 1,500 pages following us and our inbox filling up we don't have the time to address every single request that asks us to share them.  We have been taking too much time away from our inbox and our followers with having to explain that we do not share pages.  We on occasion share pages but only for fun and only to get a page to a goal as an ex. they are at 4,960 followers and we like what they do and have been around so we promote them to get them to 5,000 followers.  We also promote pages that have done interviews with us on the radio or are working with us.  If you comment on the page, comment from your personal account please.  We know the tricks and tactics of if you post randomly as a page it will help your page grow.  Many times your page will be banned and then unbanned so you don't see us in your feed since it has taken on a game of sorts to comment first on our photos.  This isn't a game to us, this is a community.

Photo Sourcing and Credit:
If you ever find a photo that you believe is yours please send us a message so we may give you proper credit. If you will notice we have thousands of photos and tracking down the original creators of photographers can be difficult. So please let us know if a photo is yours or it's original source. If you are the photographer or artist please know that we will never remove a copyright from a photo.  It's your responsibility as an artist/photographer to add your personal watermark to an image. Have A Gay Day is not liable in any way because of an image that was not given credit and someone posted it and shared it online or on our wall.  When giving a source credit we are not bound as a Facebook page to link to a business or web store that may make the originator profit.  We will link to the original photo or post or simply give credit such as the artist name.  We will be respectable of all those making requests but please understand that we will ask for links to the original source and more when altering credit or removing a photo for any reason.  This is due to those that come to the page asking us to remove photos that they have no legal or copyright/trademark rights to.
